Napoleonic History with Marcus Cribb - The Duke of Wellington's Wars

Hello!

With a passion for military history after studying at Aberystwyth University & University of Portsmouth I was lucky to have a career working in museums; The Tank Museum, HMS Warrior 1860, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, including HMS Victory & HMS M33 as the manager of Apsley House ('Number One London', the Duke of Wellington's home) & Apsley House, until recently. An operations & events manager with the National Trust, I spend my spare time researching for podcasts & battlefield tours. Alongside this I have spent over 12 years in the Army Reserves and have recently embraced living history and reenactment.

All About Marcus Cribb - Heritage Manager & Battlefield Guide

Heritage Manager and Battlefield Guide.

Experienced in giving guided tours and curated talks in a variety of museums, from a private tour for HRH Prince Edward to being invited to lecture for the Royal Wessex Yeomanry and the National Army Museum, among many others. I am interested it speaking to new groups in the near future.

I have a passion for history, focusing on military history and developments in technology for the battlefield, along with the life of the Duke of Wellington, our greatest military leader, with whom I've been lucky to gain a insight into the man behind the "Iron".

My relatively recent calling is, battlefield guiding. Having visited the Waterloo battlefield many times I have started guiding groups there, including an in depth hike of the battlefield, taking in many of the key sites, memorials and key locations of the battle on the 18th June 1815, the ideal route is roughly 10km but all outside of the fantastic museums, allowing great flexibility. A shorter tour I've delivered for wonderful musicans Green Matthews, takes a shorter route along Mt St Jean, and was delighted to fill in gaps with after dinner talks before their performance (returning in September 2026).

I've delivered tours in Portugal and Spain covering the Peninsular War. As well as a hit online series for Redcoat History, covering the opening stages of the Peninsular War.

Even more recently I have put my boots to good use aacross "bonnie Scotland" moving north myself and walked many Scottish battlefields, especially Jacobite battlefields, where blackpowder meets broadsword.

Please contact me if considering a battlefield guide for your group.
